What to do with Abandoned Bikes

At the Bike Station we regularly receive emails, calls and tweets from people looking for us to remove an abandoned bike from their tenement stairwell or workplace.

Whilst we appreciate that abandoned bikes in tenement or flat stairwells can be an annoyance as well as a safety hazard, the Bike Station is unable to remove abandoned bikes from public or private areas unless specifically requested to do so by the owner of the bicycle in question.

In the first instance you should attempt to contact the owner of the bicycle by leaving a note on the bicycle.  If that fails then please call your local Police search and recovery team by telephoning 101.

You can also contact your local Council and/or Councillor to inform them of the problem.
