Employers
The Bike Station works with many employers in Edinburgh and beyond to promote sustainable commuting by bike. We offer a variety of services both to support and encourage commuters who already cycle to work on a regular basis, and new or potential cyclists to start travelling to work by bike. As well as encouraging sustainable commuting, encouraging cycling to work means promoting a healthy lifestyle amongst employees.

Dr Bike involves sending a mobile workshop and qualified bike mechanic to your workplace to service bikes cycled in by commuters on the day. Most minor problems can be fixed on the spot, with more major problems diagnosed and a bike “MOT” provided. Dr Bikes are used by a variety of organisations and employers to promote regular cycling and to reward cyclists. It even tempts new cyclists to cycle in for the day just to get their bike serviced. A regular timetable of Dr Bikes is the best way of ensuring its success.

Cycle lessons
An increasing number of organisations and employers offer free cycle training to their staff as a way of overcoming one of the major barriers to cycle commuting during rush hour. The Bike Station is accredited by Cycling Scotland as a cycle training centre and provides the whole range of cycle training, all to national standards.
We can work with commuters with any level of cycling ability, planning their regular route and giving them the skills and confidence to cycle to work in all conditions.
Please contact Ruairidh MacGlone on 0131 668 1996 or ruairidh@thebikestation.org.uk to discuss your requirements and for information on pricing.
Cycle Friendly Employer scheme
Cycling Scotland can accredit your organisation or workplace as a cycle friendly employer, and the events described above count towards the steps you'll need to take to get the certificate. Cycling Scotland and the Bike Station can provide further information and support to gain the accreditation.
