The Bike Station exists
thanks to the outside financial and support in kind from the following

Funding News.
Edinburgh
City Council have given the Bike Station £10,000 from their
waste minimisation fund to increase the tonnage of bikes that
recycle, helping the city meet its recycling targets.

Edinburgh Fund awarded us a grant towards the costs of developing
cycle training and the sale of refurbished bikes as part of a
community enterprise.
The Community Health Fund have
awarded us £4,000 towards our work promoting cycling and
health.

workshop staff, ensuring that the workshop continues to operate
and increasing the numbers of bikes that we can refurbish.

Post. With the money and the new post we will be looking to expand
our activities considerably.

Lothian On The Move has agreed funding towards the development
of a satellite Bike Station in West Lothian, along with a range
of other cycling activities.

Sustainability Grant

grant from the Sustainable Action Fund, to develop and promote
recycling and cycling as a social inclusion tool within disadvantaged
communities throughout Lothian.
Waste
Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN)
The
money from WREN is used to pay the salary for a full time workshop
manager. The Bike Station divided the post into two part-time job-share
posts. Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) is a non-profit
making Environmental Body that distributes Landfill Tax Credits
under the 1996 Landfill Tax Act and its subsequent amendments. The
money is also used for office expenditure and supervision for the
workshop managers. The funding runs until October 2004.
Fresh Futures
The
money from Fresh Futures has and is being used for volunteer training,
tools and equipment and website management.
Fresh Futures is a Scottish funding body set up in 2001 to offer
grants to community environmental projects. Funding for the various
grant programmes they manage is received from the New Opportunities
Fund under their Green Space and Sustainable Communities program
and Transforming Communities program.
B&Q
The
Bike Station with the help of B&Q was able to buy tools and
equipment for the workshop.
The B&Q You Can Do It Community Awards form just one
element of the company's commitment to their stores' communities,
giving local organisations the chance to embark on DIY projects
that can make a real difference to local people.
Valuing Volunteers
The
Valuing Volunteers money was awarded to us so that we could put
volunteers through various courses and pay for more equipment. Valuing
Volunteers is a subsidiary of the Unemployed Voluntary Action Fund
(UVAF). Ultimately it is supported by the Scottish Executive.
Unemployed Voluntary Action
Fund
The
funding from UVAF will bring the workshop a part-time volunteer
manager. It will also pay for more volunteer training, some office
costs, part office rent and improvement of the access to the workshop.
The Unemployed Voluntary Action Fund (UVAF) is a trust which provides
grants to assist voluntary projects in Scotland.

also been very generous as landlords. We are greatly appreciative
of their support.

with International Women's Day, National Bike Week, and to carry
