Schools
The Bike Station, together with Lothian and Borders Road Safety Unit, the City of Edinburgh Council and the Active Schools Coordinators, work together to deliver cycle training in schools at Primary 5 with a playground-based set of skill sessions, at Primary 6 with the Scottish Cycle Training Scheme and at Primary 7 with journeying and mechanical sessions.
If you want to make cycle training happen at your school, the Bike Station coordinates fund-raising opportunities with local PTA organisations, schools, Active School coordinators, and Road Safety officers..
We also provide training at secondary school level based on the same material for those who have missed out on cycle training at primary school level, bike maintenance training, Build Your Own Bike courses, and guided cycle rides within Edinburgh and the Lothians, as well as Glentress Forest and the Seven Stanes mountain biking centres.
We also send Dr Bike to schools either prior to cycle training or to attend events, or to promote Eco Schools or promoting sustainable lifestyles. We can also sometimes arrange childrens' bike sales at your school.
