The People Behind the Pedals: Meet Our Trustees & Our Strategy

At The Bike Station, we believe that bikes are powerful tools — for connection, for climate action, and for community change. As we launch our new strategy for 2025–26, we want to introduce the people helping steer that vision forward: our Board of Trustees.

Our board brings deep experience across climate, transport, engineering, communications, community development and the circular economy. Together, they provide the strategic leadership that helps us stay rooted in our values while responding to the opportunities and challenges ahead.

A Strategy That Moves With Purpose

Our new strategy sets out a clear, ambitious mission:

  • To support more people to travel by bike — whether that’s to work, to school, or simply for the joy of it

  • To increase confidence, skills and long-term behaviour change

  • To extend the life of bikes and reduce waste through reuse, repair and refurbishment

  • To unlock the potential of cargo bikes as alternatives to cars

  • To centre community needs and voices in everything we do

This work isn’t happening in isolation. It’s shaped by — and contributes to — a range of national and regional priorities, including:

From climate action to reduced inequalities and healthier communities, our strategic aims are tightly aligned with Scotland’s long-term vision — and our trustees are instrumental in ensuring that alignment is purposeful and impactful.
