Meet the #EverydayHeroes Changing Lives on Two Wheels

At The Bike Station, we believe that every person who rides a bike is an everyday hero — for their health, for their mind, and for the planet.

Today, we’re launching our #EverydayHeroes public giving campaign, raising £15,000 to help more people access cycling and all the life-changing benefits it brings.

Because when you support The Bike Station, you’re not just funding bikes. You’re fuelling freedom, connection, and confidence.

More than bikes — it’s about people

In communities across Scotland, families are feeling the impact of rising costs, transport inequality, and growing barriers to health and wellbeing. That’s where The Bike Station makes a difference.

We refurbish donated bikes and sell them at affordable prices — helping children, young people, and families access cycling safely and sustainably. Every bike we restore is another opportunity for someone to travel independently, gain confidence, and discover joy on two wheels.

But the impact doesn’t stop there. Through our community workshops and programmes, we teach skills that last a lifetime. We help children feel confident in traffic. We give families the tools to ride together. We support young people to see cycling not just as transport, but as empowerment.

Why it matters now

In the world we’re living in — one where poverty and inequality are growing — multifaceted charities like ours are essential.

A bike might seem simple, but it can change everything. It can connect a young person to education or work. It can give a family affordable travel options. It can improve mental health, reduce isolation, and build stronger, more sustainable communities.

We believe access to cycling shouldn’t depend on income or postcode. That’s why every refurbished bike, every workshop, and every donation to this campaign helps us make cycling equitable and accessible for everyone.

Your support helps us:

  • Refurbish donated bikes for affordable resale

  • Deliver confidence-building workshops for children, young people, and families

  • Run community programmes that promote wellbeing and sustainable travel

Every donation — big or small — helps more people experience the freedom, confidence, and joy of cycling. And to make it even more exciting, every donation is entered into our weekly prize draws throughout the campaign (you can even enter for free via email — full details on our page).

Because real change happens when everyday people come together to make a difference.

Join us, and be an #EverydayHero today.
