This Is How We Move: The Bike Station’s Bold New Base at Lauriston Place

Something big is pedalling into town.

This June, The Bike Station is launching a new, city-centre hub at 141 Lauriston Place — and it’s more than just a new address. It’s a catalyst for change.

We’re not here to tweak the status quo. We’re here to help drive a cycling revolution — one that’s powered by communities, rooted in sustainability, and built to last for generations.

Changing How Our City Moves

For over 20 years, we’ve been giving bikes a new lease of life — supporting thousands of people across Edinburgh and beyond to get pedalling. From refurbishing old bikes to teaching life-changing skills, our mission has always been simple: more people on bikes, more of the time.

Now, with our new space in the heart of the city, we’re going even further.

📍 Lauriston Place puts us right where we need to be — closer to key cycling routes, better connected to public transport, and more accessible to the communities who need us most.

Start Young. Stay Pedalling.

Real change happens when cycling becomes part of everyday life — not just for individuals, but for families, schools, and whole communities.

That’s why we’re investing in the next generation through our community projects:

  • The Wee Bike Library: Where families can access kids bikes for free and exchange them for their next size up as their kids grow.

  • Kids Bike Life: Supporting young people and their adults to cycle more.

  • Shifting Gears: Supporting people who face barriers to cycling to ride with confidence and independence.

It’s not about bikes for bikes’ sake. It’s about independence, confidence, joy — and building healthier habits from the ground up.

Powered by People, Not Profit

The Bike Station is a social enterprise and charity. Every bike we repair, every part we reuse, every programme we run — it’s all rooted in the idea that a better city is possible when we move differently.

Our new space builds on the inspiring legacy of the Cargo Bike Movement and brings new energy to a shared vision:

  • Embrace the circular economy

  • Make sustainable travel accessible

  • Build skills and confidence in local communities

  • Reduce emissions and inequality, one bike at a time

We believe bikes are more than transport — they’re a vehicle for social change.

And this move? It’s not just a step forward. It’s a shift in direction — for our city, our climate, and our collective future.
